Driver Was High With Toddler in Car During Mansfield Crash: Cops

The woman has been involved in 13 incidents involving state police since 2003, according to a warrant.

MANSFIELD, CT β€” A Willington woman has been charged with crashing her car in October while high on drugs with a 2-year-old in the back seat, state police said.

Krystal Sauer, 33, of Village St., Willington, was charged on Friday with first-degree reckless endangerment, driving under the influence and risk of injury to child, according to a warrant. She is due in court on Dec. 20, according to a warrant.

The crash took place on Oct. 24, state police said.

Police were at the scene of a two-car crash on Storrs Road when they suspected one driver β€” Sauer β€” was high, because of physical signs like droopy eyes and lethargic behavior, according to a warrant.

The toddler was in a car seat and not injured, according to a warrant.

A post-crash report from Windham Hospital showed traces of opiates, benzodiazapines and cannabinoids in her system, according to a warrant.

Sauer has been involved in 13 incidents involving state police since 2003, according to a warrant. She has been the driver in seven crashes investigated by state police and another on private property, according to a warrant.
