Earthquake Shakes up Quiet Corner of Connecticut

The northeastern area of the state was rattled with an earthquake centered on Danielson, but it didn't do much damage, according to reports.

Connecticut’s Quiet Corner became less so Thursday morning as an earthquake rumbled through and registered 2.0 on the Richter Scale, according to WFSB-TV.

The 9:28 a.m. quake was a “shallow” one, Dr. John Ebel, chair of the observatory department at Boston College’s Weston Observatory, told Channel 3 Eyewitness News. He said the earthquake was centered about a mile southwest of Danielson, according to the station.

Some Moosup residents reported picture frames were knocked off of walls, but Plainfield police said that out of the 40 calls they received just after the earthquake, none reported any major damage.
