Eastern Connecticut Music Legend Recognized For Humanitarian Efforts
David Foster was recently honored by the regional Lions Club.

WINDHAM, CT — Eastern Connecticut music legend and philanthropist David Foster has been chosen by the Windham Lions Club, District 23 C, as its humanitarian nomination to the State Lions Club. representing Middlesex, New London, Windham and Tolland counties.
Claudia Weicker, wife of the late governor and United States Senator Lowell Weicker, spoke on Foster's behalf at a banquet staged at Ocean Beach on Jan. 21.
In attendance was Miss Connecticut and U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal who presented Foster with a special citation for "the kindness and generosity that he has displayed in helping the less fortunate in the community."

Foster, known as "Lefty" in music circles was the owner of the famed Shaboo Inn in Mansfield and his Shaboo All Stars are still a popular band in the region. He has devoted most of his life to charitable causes, particularly the Lions and the Covenant Soup Kitchen in Willimantic, which serves the region.
