Saturday, March 17th

In the morning: T.R. Potts, Potts Performance Horses - Western Pleasure/ Trail Clinic

 

          Clinic 1: Improving Your Horsemanship Skills for Better Western Pleasure (9 - 10 AM)

T.R. will use fundamental drills to teach you how to improve your horsemanship skills in order to more effectively communicate with your horse and for improving your chances of success in your Western Pleasure classes

 

              Clinic 2: Improving Your Trail Performance (10:30 AM - 12 PM)

Using different trail obstacles encountered on the trail and in the ring, T.R. will teach you how to improve your horsemanship skills in order to more effectively communicate with your horse and increase your success in trail classes.

 

Riders $60/clinic (limited to 10 riders); Auditors* $20 (covers entire day Saturday)

Spring Break Special - 2 for 1 clinics - pay for 1 clinic, get 1 free

UConn students in the Horse Practicum can use a horse for a $20 additional fee

12 PM UConn Morgan Drill Team Demonstration

12:15 PM UConn Equestrian Team Demonstration

In the afternoon: Jessica Chickering, Barefoot Hoof Practitioner

Jessica will give a presentation discussing the internal structures of the hoof, the damage that shoeing does, how the #2 killer, possibly the #1 killer in horses can be prevented, and the effects of diet, disease and the environment on the hoof through the use of bones and cadavers.

             

1 PM Start of clinic

$10 to audit this session, or if you audited in the morning, it is included

 

 

Sunday, March 18th

In the morning: Michael Stewart DVM & Kristen Kuzmickas-Guadagnino, Full Circle Farm

              Clinic 1: Biomechanics of Performance Horses (9 - 10:30 AM)

Dr. Stewart will discuss common issues seen in performance horses and how it relates to riders and trainers with Kristen Kuzmickas-Guadagnino riding, demonstrating exercises that will help improve your horse’s performance.  

              Clinic 2: A Rider’s or Instructor’s Understanding (10:30 AM – 12 PM)

Kristen Kuzmickas-Guadagnino will teach and instruct riders on how to execute the exercises discussed in the first clinic and will help riders to improve their horse’s performance based on the issues discussed by Dr. Stewart.  

Riders in clinic 2 - $50 (limited to 4) (includes auditing of clinic 1); Auditors* $10

 

Visit our well-populated and diversse Vendor Fair both days throughout the symposium - all under one roof at the Horsebarn Hill Arena!
