The fate of a media outlet's request to release 911 tapes and other documents related to the shooting at Sandy Hook SchoolΒ rests in the hands ofΒ Connecticut's Freedom of Information Commission.Β
And the nine-member commission will convene Wednesday for a public hearing before rendering its decision, according to anΒ article by the Associated Press (AP)Β that was published by theΒ New Haven Register.
The AP made theΒ request "in part to examine the response of law enforcement to one of the worst school shootings in U.S. history," the article states.
The shooting, on Dec. 14, 2012, claimed the life ofΒ 20 first-graders and six educators. Police have said the lone gunman, a 20-year-old,Β first killed hisΒ mother at their home in Sandy Hook before he went on aΒ shooting rampage at the nearby school, which ended whenΒ he took his own life.
An official police report has not yet been released; thoughΒ authorities have saidΒ it is expected to be made public soon.
