Happenings Down The Hill: Cyclocross Racing At Mansfield Hollow Oct 12

Local cycling club Thread City Cyclers will host a popular cyclocross race, as it has for the past several years, a race that draws upwards of 250 racers from all over New England and beyond.  This year, as in the past as well, the race will serve at the Connecticut Championships.

The race format features different divisions and starting times.  Cyclocross has been around since before the days of mountain bikes and was once the way that cyclists in the colder climates stayed fit and raced deep into the fall season when road races and criteriums became impractical.  Cyclocross is conducted on a closed circuit of off-road terrain featuring jumps and bumps, hills and descents, and is typically spectator-friendly.

Racing begins at 9:00, with the elite men and women competing in the early afternoon.  For more information, please consult the TCC website.
