K9 Bullet & Stab Protective Vests Donated to CT Department of Correction
Dogs accompany DOC officers searching for contraband and assist state and local police on missing person searches. Each vest costs $950.

Police dogs need bullet-resistant vests just like police, and the Connecticut Department of Correction’s (DOC) K9 Unit recently received a donation of nine of these K9 vests.
The DOC dogs accompany officers on searches for contraband within the state's prison system and help missing person searches along with state and local police. The vests will help protect the dogs from potential life-threatening injuries.
The vests were provided by Vested Interest in K9s Inc., a 501c (3) all-volunteer charity located in Massachusetts that donates vests for law enforcement dogs throughout the United States.
Through private and corporate sponsorships, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., has provided over 435 law enforcement dogs with protective vests since their inception in 2009. More than $400,000 in K9 vests has been donated in 35 states including Alaska and Hawaii.
The organization orders the Armor Express vests made in Michigan exclusively from distributor Regency Police Supply in Hyannis, MA, who also does the custom embroidery on the body armor.
New K9 graduates as well as K9's with expired vests are eligible to apply for the ballistic vests from Vested Interest in K9s Inc.
