Local Attractions Highlight Connecticut Open House Day

Connecticut Open House Day is scheduled for Saturday.

Attractions, museums, galleries and organizations in towns and cities all across Connecticut will be opening their doors and welcoming visitors with discounted or free admission, giveaways, special offers and hands-on activities.

Here are a few area highlights.

Coventry

• Nathan Hale Homestead - free admission from noon to 4 p.m.

Ellington

• Nellie McKnight Museum - free admission, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

East Windsor

• Connecticut Trolley Museum - half-price admission, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Glastonbury

• Central Rock Gym - two free climbs for new guests, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and half-price admission for returning guests.

Manchester

• Cheney Homestead - free admission from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Manchester HIstory Center - free admission from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Old Manchester Museum - free admission from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Pitkin Glassworks - free admission from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Woodbridge Farmstead - free admission from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Mansfield

• Atwood Farm Museum - free admission, noon to 4 p.m.
• Barbara Katz Studio - pottery demonstrations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and complimentary cards fr visitors.
• Adventure Park at Storrs - discounted admission from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry - open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with free guided tours at 1 and 3 p.m.

Rocky Hill

• Academy Hall Museum - free admission from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Dinosaur State Park - free admission from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Southington

• Southington Drive-In - Southington admission rate of $10 for the first 100 carloads.
