COVENTRY, CT β€” A man armed with a box cutter tried to break into a home on Twin Hills Drive in Coventry Thursday, local police said. It was the second criminal incident involving the man in less than two weeks.

Police said they were told the man β€” later identified as 56-year-old Devin McConnell of Coventry β€” made multiple threatening calls to the homeowner. He then traveled to the residence Thursday and attempted to break in through front and rear doors, according to an incident report.

When officers arrived at the scene, McConnell, box cutter in hand, was taken into custody without further incident.

McConnell was charged with criminal attempt to commit home invasion, second-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace. McConnell was in custody Thursday on a $100,000 bond and is slated to appear in court on Friday.

McConnell was also arrested by Coventry Police on July 15 for second-degree harassment after making threatening phone calls to another Coventry resident in an unrelated incident, police said.
