Man Causes Mayhem at Eastbrook Mall in Mansfield
A routine traffic stop turned anything but routine one spring day.

A 30-year-old man is under arrest after causing mayhem at the Eastbrook Mall.
On May 5, Jacob M. Kilhenny, of 380 Central Ave. in Norwich, was arrested after trying to evade police.
At approximately 4 p.m. that day, Kilhenny was observed not wearing his seat belt. He failed to stop for the police and continued around the Eastbrook Mall parking lot, where his vehicle almost hit an oncoming vehicle. Kilhenny later lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a curb and tree on the Eastbrook Mall property.

He fled the scene, leaving his passengers in the vehicle. Kilhenny ran into the woods, heading towards Willimantic and was later apprehended and arrested.
He was transported to Windham Hosoptal for his injuries from the crash.

Kilhenny was then transported to Troop C where he was processed and charged with failure to wear a seat belt, insurance coverage fails minimum requirements, operating a motor vehicle without a license, reckless driving, engage police in pursuit, interfering with police, and second-degree reckless endangerment.
He was released on $5,000 non-surety bond and has a court date on May 20.
