Suspect in Mansfield Bank Robbery in Custody: Update

MANSFIELD, CT — A suspect in a Wednesday bank robbery in Mansfield is in custody, state police said Thursday morning,

The man robbed the bank and used a small pickup truck he used as a getaway vehicle, police said.

On Wednesday at 4:37 p.m., state police received a call that the TD Bank North at 95 Storrs Road in Mansfield was robbed by a man wearing a baseball hat, glasses and sweat shirt.

The man demanded money from the teller, state police said.

Once the suspect received an undisclosed amount, he left the bank through the northeast door, climbed into a light color smaller-sized pickup truck and fled in an unknown direction, state police said.

No weapon was implied or shown and no injuries were reported, state police said.

State police released images of the man and his truck.

State police on Thursday said the suspect had been located, identified and was in custody on unrelated charges.

As of Thursday morning, he had be charged with motor vehicle offenses, but not charged in relation to bank robbery, though those charges are pending, state police said.

The suspect had been transported to a hospital for evaluation due to medical issue, but will eventually be transported to a barracks for processing, state police said.
