Mansfield Library Event About Famous Educator Prudence Crandall

State Sen. Donald Williams Jr. will talk about his new book about the famed educator and early civil rights activist.

State Sen. Donald Williams Jr. (D-29) is scheduled to speak at the Mansfield Public Library about his new book regarding the integration of schools in Canterbury in the 19th century.

William’s new book Prudence Crandall’s Legacy: The Fight for Equality in the 1830s, Dred Scott, and Brown v. Board of Education, is about Crandall’s role as a schoolteacher who fought to educate black women in the early 19th century.

The event will start at 7 p.m. on Oct. 2 and is free and open to the public.
