Now the town is making headlines for a different reason. According to a survey conducted by the real estate blog Movoto, Mansfield has the distinction of being the middle class capital of the United States.
Movoto defines middle class as families with an annual income in the $35,000 to $149,999 range. Using U.S. Census data from three five-year estimates of household income (2007-2011, 2008-2012, and 2009-2013), Mansfield was at the top of the list for each time period with 100 percent of the households falling into that financial range.
