Mansfield Residents: Winter Storm Watch for Thanksgiving Week in Much of CT

A winter storm watch is in effect, from the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 26, through Thanksgiving morning, according to the National Weather Service.
βThis storm will significantly impact holiday travelβ¦ making driving dangerous at times,β the NWS said in its winter storm watch notice.

βAnyone traveling in the next 24 to 36 hours should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to modify travel plans should winter weather develop,β NWS staff said.
Here are the specifics for Connecticutβs weather during Thanksgiving week, per the NWS.

- The snow could be heavy at times, especially Wednesday night
- Total snow accumulation is somewhere between 6 and 10 inches
- Specifically: Snow of 6 or more inches in a 12-hour period or 8 or more inches in a 24-hour period
- Rain and snow Wednesday morning, switching to all snow on Wednesday afternoon
- Maximum snowfall rates: Up to three inches an hour
- Winds will be 5 to 15 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph
- Temperatures: 20s to lower 30s

- Monday night: Patchy fog. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. Southwest wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.
- Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 56. West wind 10 to 14 mph.
- Tuesday Night: A slight chance of rain between 3am and 4am, then a chance of rain and snow. Partly cloudy, with a low around 33. West wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
- Wednesday: A chance of rain and snow before 9am, then snow. High near 34. North wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
- Wednesday Night: Snow, mainly before 1am. Low around 29. North wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
- Thanksgiving Day: A chance of snow showers, mainly before 7am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
- Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 21.
- Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 32.
- Friday NightPartly cloudy, with a low around 17.
- Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 37.
- Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28.
