Mansfield Store Clerk Is Accused of Falsely Reporting Robbery
State police say they obtained an arrest warrant for the Mansfield man and an accomplice.

The store clerk who reported there was an armed robbery at the Mansfield gas station where he worked is facing charges that he concocted the story when he called Connecticut State Police last month.
It was shortly after 10:15 p.m. on June 12, when troopers from Troop C-Tolland responded to Amir Mobil Gas Station on Rt. 32 in Mansfield for a reported armed robbery.
Troopers arrived on scene conducted an initial investigation. Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad Detectives also responded and assumed the investigation.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified numerous discrepancies in the clerk’s account of the armed robbery, state police said Wednesday. Further investigation led detectives to determine the armed robbery was falsely reported and they obtained arrest warrants for the store clerk and his accomplice.

On July 27, store clerk Javier Flores, 27, was arrested at his 16 Thornbush Dr. residence in Mansfield, and charged with third-degree larceny, interfering with police, conspiracy to commit larceny, providing a false statement and falsely reporting an incident.
Third-degree larceny involves the theft of money or good valued between $1,001 and $5,000, according to Connecticut General Statutes.
Flores was held in lieu of $75,000 bond until his appearance Tuesday in state Superior Court in Rockville. He was released after posting bond on Tuesday and is scheduled to return to court Aug. 19, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website.
State police said Wednesday that an additional arrest is expected.
