Michael P. Spencer: Worked in Construction; Enjoyed Racing Stock Cars

The Mansfield Center resident passed away Sept. 27 at the age of 54.

Michael Prescott Spencer, 54, of Mansfield Center, CT passed away on September 27, 2015, surrounded by his loved ones after a long, hard, fought battle from complications that arose from a bone marrow transplant for Leukemia.

He worked construction in Connecticut and Massachusetts, running large jobs such as Deer Island and portions of the Big Dig in Boston, MA.

On the weekends, he loved spending time at his lake house in Maine with family and friends. He enjoyed water skiing and snow skiing. He also loved racing, having raced stock cars in the early to mid-80’s and go-karts in the 2000’s.

He leaves his wife, Judy Spencer of 32 years, and their three children, Jessica Spencer and her boyfriend, Robert Kender, Wesley Spencer and his girlfriend, Jane Knight, and Kyle Spencer. He is survived by his parents, Prescott and Alice Spencer, his sisters, Katherine Jesmonth and her husband Kevin Jesmonth, Gwendolyn Spencer and her husband Onezime Picard, and his brother, Todd Spencer and his wife Kirstin Curley. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Truman Pearl, several brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews, his best friend Joseph Skaff, and many good friends.

Calling Hours will be held Thursday, October 1, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM for family and friends at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St.(Rte. 195) Willimantic, CT. Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, October 2, 2015 at Potter Funeral Home.
