New Haven Line Service Still 65%; Con Ed 'Working Around the Clock'

Con Ed expects to reconnect a high-voltage transmission feeder by Monday, Oct. 7, which will provide full service to the line.

In aΒ schedule in placeΒ through Friday, Oct. 4, Metro-North continues to operate New Haven Line serviceΒ at 65 percentΒ of regular capacity.Β

According to the MTA, an increase in power capacity to Con Edison's temporary substations allowed for someΒ additional trains this week, but regular service won't return untilΒ full power capacity of the Mount Vernon substation is restored.

Con Edison said on Monday they continue toΒ "work around-the-clock to reconnect the 138kV feeder that had been removed from service several weeks ago to accommodate Metro-North’s system upgrade work."Β 

Con EdΒ expects theΒ work to be completed by Monday, Oct. 7, resulting inΒ full service to the New Haven line. Also, according to the statement, the companyΒ will conduct a review of the incidentΒ andΒ have extensive discussions with the MTA regarding contingency planning once work is complete.
