Peter G. Plante III, 67; Retired CT State Police Lieutenant, U.S. Army Veteran
Calling hours for the Mansfield Center resident will be held on Thursday, Aug. 27 with a memorial service scheduled for Friday, Aug. 28.

Peter G. Plante III of Mansfield Center, died on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Hartford Hospital.
He was born on July 18, 1948 in Bridgeport CT.

He graduated from Notre Dame Catholic High School in Fairfield. He attended the University of Connecticut where he was a wide receiver for the Uconn Huskies Football team. He graduated with a Bachelorβs Degree. Peter served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded a marksman badge. He served in The National Guard. He received a Masterβs Degree in Public Administration from the University of Hartford. Peter served over 25 years in the CT State Police force, where he retired as a Lieutenant from Troop C. He was an interim Police Chief of Eastern Connecticut State University.
Peter was very involved in his community. He was a member of the American Legion (Lebanon, CT Post), a member of the Mansfield Lions Club. A Member of the Republican Town Committee (Mansfield, CT) and served for 14 years on the Planning and Zoning Committee (Mansfield, CT).

Peter is predeceased by his father, Peter G. Plante II and his mother Victoria (Norkus) Plante.
He is survived by his brother Robert Plante and sister-in-law Ophelia of Texas. His wife, Doryann (Major) Plante, his daughter, Regina Hackett, son-in-law Cory Hackett, two granddaughters Olivia and Addison. A son, Paul St.Germain, daughter-in-law Katie Given and a grandson, Jase. Peter leaves behind many family and friends especially Phil and Ruth Patros and Tom and Nancy Coogan.
Peter will be greatly missed; he was a unique soul with a great sense of humor. Always ready with a joke and brought laughter to any occasion.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Aug. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195), Willimantic, and a Memorial Service will take place on Friday, Aug. 28 at 10 a.m. at Potter Funeral Home. A private burial will be on later date.
The family asks in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in Peter Planteβs name.
