UConn has been engaged in a Master Planning process since February 2014. The planning horizon for the master plan is set at 20 years, with a special focus on the first ten years of campus improvements that will be driven by the state-funded Next Generation Connecticut program. That program is intended to support the ability of the University to enhance and expand the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs – as well as the liberal arts – as a component of the state’s strategy for economic development.

The early stages of the master planning process were focused on aligning the physical planning with the academic plan for the campus, and the exploration of potential solutions for the development of the campus.
