Renovations Proposed for Mansfield Hollow Boat Launch

A public hearing has been scheduled to review the plans.

MANSFIELD, CT — The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has scheduled a public information meeting to review proposed renovations to the Mansfield Hollow Lake State Boat Launch.

The ramp is located on Bassetts Bridge Road, Mansfield.

The session is slated for 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, in the Council Chambers of the Audrey P. Beck Municipal Building, 4 South Eagleville Road.

Plans are in the works to reconstruct the launch and access road and make it "a state-of-the-art, handicapped-accessible facility," DEEP officials said.

  • The ramp will be replaced with a single, grooved, concrete slab surface along with a separate car top launching area.
  • The handicapped accessible parking spaces, turning areas and approaches will be redesigned and paved, with sidewalks included.
  • Concrete pads will be installed at the end of the ramp and concrete pavers will be installed along the ramp sides to prevent erosion.
  • An ADA accessible, floating dock system will be added to make launching and retrieval of boats safer and more efficient. I
  • A solar-powered street light will be installed near the ramp to assist boaters launching or retrieving boats at night.
  • A protected concrete portable toilet pad will be installed.
  • The access road and turning area will be repaved.

DEEP Officials said they hope work can begin within the next two of years.
