UPDATE: Victim ID'ed in Route 44 Motorcycle Crash in Mansfield
The crash occurred Thursday morning.

State police say it was a 53-year-old man who was thrown from his motorcycle when he struck a guardrail on Route 44 Thursday morning, prompting a closure of the road.
Gregory Messler, 53, whose hometown was not immediately available, was thrown from the motorcycle shortly before 6:30 a.m. on Route 44 at Old Turnpike Toad, according to The Courant.

The Courant reports he was airlifted by a Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital, with what police described as minor injuries.

A motorcycle crash temporarily closed Route 44 at Old Turnpike Road in Mansfield Thursday morning, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
The crash was reported shortly before 7 a.m.
