Snapshot: Local Gymnasts Medal at Nutmeg Games

Mansfield's Brooke Cleary, Olivia Doremus and Katie Kravchuk brought home medals.

Three Mansfield residents medaled in the Nutmeg State Games Gymnastics Competition at Pomperaug High School in Southbury on Monday, August 1.

Ten-year-old Katie Kravchuk, of Mansfield captured gold medals on bars and vault, and a bronze on the beam in the Level 5 competition.

Mansfield's Brooke Cleary, 13, won the All-Around gold medal in the Level 7 competition. Cleary also won gold medals on bars, vault and beam, and a bronze with her floor routine.

Olivia Doremus, of Mansfield earned a silver medal on the beam.

Mansfield’s Sofia Romeo also competed in the event.

According to the Nutmeg State Games Web site, the “Olympic-style competition” is endorsed by the Governor’s Committee on Physical Fitness & Health and recognized by the United States Olympic Committee as the Official State Games of Connecticut.
