State Police ID Victims in Fatal Mansfield Car-Truck Crash
The victims' car ran into the back of a recycling truck, according to police.

An elderly West Willington couple has died after their car struck the rear of a recycling truck at about 10:30 a.m. Monday, according to Connecticut State Police.
Police said the 2008 S60 Volvo the couple was in struck the rear of the Willimantic Waste Paper Co. truck as the truck slowed to turn right onto North Frontage Road from Storrs Road at 10:32 a.m. Monday.
According to a state police report released Monday evening, Thomas P. Ryan, 78, was driving the Volvo when it struck the rear of the truck “for an unknown reason.” Arlene D. Ryan, 79, was a front seat passenger. He was not wearing a seat beat; Arlene Ryan was wearing a seat belt. The air bags in their car were deployed in the crash, according to the report.

The Ryans lived on Luchon Drive in West Willington, according to police.
The truck driver was identified as 48-year-old Jerrilynn Robbins, of 9 Chetelat Dr., Ashford. She was not injured, according to police.

Lifestar helicopters were deployed to the scene to treat the victims.
Police are seeking witnesses to the crash who are asked to contact Trooper First Class Hickey at Troop C at 860-896-3200, ext. 8008.
