Store Employee Accused of Taking Lottery Tickets Worth Thousands
An employee of a Mansfield liquor store is accused of 'embezzling' lottery tickets worth thousands of dollars.

MANSFIELD, CT — A 22-year-old Willington was charged with third-degree larceny this week for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars worth of lottery tickets from the store at which he was working, state police said.
David Nilson, who lives in an apartment complex off Pinney Hill Road in Willington, was arrested on July 23, according to an arrest report.
The official description of his actions in a report was the "embezzlement" of lottery tickets.

Last November, the owners of Holiday Spirits on Storrs Road called state police to say they had received a confession from Nilson about lottery tickets taken from the store, an offense Nilson was fired for, according to a warrant. He initially agreed to pay back their $3,000 value but never did, according to a warrant.
Store owners had Connecticut Lottery officials trace the tickets and the worth turned out to be more than $7,000, state police said.

Nilson won $100 once, $50 once and some smaller amounts, according to a warrant.
