'Substantial' Heroin and Coke Stash Intercepted After Mansfield Traffic Stop: State Police
The case began with a bad muffler, state police said.
TOLLAND, CT — A Tuesday traffic stop involving a bad muffler wound up with state police confiscating a large stash of drugs from a Tolland man, a news release indicates.
At about 9 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of state Route 195 and Baxter Road, a Trooper from the state police Troop C barracks saw a Volkswagen Passat with an "improper exhaust" come to "an improper stop" at a stop sign, according to a news release.
The car continued into Mansfield and was pulled over at a gas station, state police said.

Police suspected there were drugs in the car and called in a canine unit to inspect the vehicle, according to a news release. The dog detected narcotics and the vehicle was searched, state police said.
Troopers recovered 180 bags of heroin belonging to a passenger, 29-year-old Ryan Greenham of Tolland, according to a news release.

Police also confiscated a "substantial amount" of cocaine packaged for sale, a digital scale and other drug equipment, according to a news release.
State police issued an evidence photo of the drugs.
Greenham was arrested and charged with narcotics possession with the intent to distribute, the illegal possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a news release. He was help overnight on a $200,000 and was to appear in Rockville Superior Court Wednesday.
