Two Teens Face Arrest for Mansfield Burglary

Connecticut State Police caught the boys as they walked away from the scene late Sunday night.

Two teens have been arrested on burglary and trespassing charges in connection with the Sunday night break-in at a Hanks Hill Road home.

According to Connecticut State Police, it was about 10:15 p.m. Aug. 9 when troopers from Troop C-Tolland were dispatched to 247 Hanks Hill Rd., on a report of a residential burglary.

Troopers responded to the scene and saw two male suspects walking on Hanks Hill Road in the area of the residence. As one trooper exited his cruiser to speak with the male suspects, they fled on foot into the woods, entered a vehicle which was parked in the area of the residence, and attempted to leave the area.

As the male suspects attempted to leave the area in the waiting vehicle, another trooper saw the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at which time the vehicle stopped. The troopers’ investigation determined that the male suspects were responsible for the burglary and were taken into custody.

A 17-year-old, who’s not being identified because of his age, and Matthew Tangari, 18, of 155 Willington Hill Hl, Willington, each were charged with third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass, first-degree criminal mischief and interfering with an officer.

Tangari was released on $5,000 bond and scheduled to appear Aug. 19 in Rockville Superior Court. The juvenile was released to the custody of his parents and scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court.
