UConn Parking Garages Will Get Safer
Screening will be installed on the upper levels of both garages at UConn.

STORRS, CT - The parking garages on the University of Connecticut campus are about to get safer.
An $800,000 project to install safety screening around the existing parapet walls on the upper levels of the north and south garages is set to start in May, according to a plan recently approved by the UConn Board of Trustees.
A portion of the safety device will have a "gate" so any snow getting into the garage area could be easily removed, according to a project outline.

Construction will likely commence after commencement and be finished in August before students arrive back, according to a project outline.
UConn Provost Mun Choi said the safety improvements are a code requirement. The screening will be angled, similar to the safety screening on a bridge, and will total 1,900 linear feet, according to a project outline.
