UConn Police: Manchester Man Charged For Sneaking Through Bags and Wallets at Field House

He is facing larceny charges.

STORRS, CT - University of Connecticut police said they have arrested a Manchester man who was sneaking around the Hugh Greer Field House and rummaging through wallets and gym bags.

The actions of Obinna Nwafor date back to September 2015, UConn police said. He was caught on security cameras taking money from the bags and the wallets and admitted to the crimes during interrogation.

The field house housed UConn basketball games prior to Gampel Pavilion opening and now serves as a university recreation center.

Nwafor, 25, lives at 201 Oakland St., Manchester, according to police records. He appeared in court on June 9 on eight counts of sixth-degree larceny, was released on a written promise to appear, and is due back on July 11, according to judicial system records.
