STORRS, CT — For the second time this week, the University of Connecticut's Storrs campus is canceling classes Thursday afternoon due to a power outage. Classes were also canceled at Storrs Monday because of a power failure.

However, Thursday's power outage was brief. Officials reported the power was back on by 3 p.m.

Classes at other UConn campuses—Hartford, Stamford, Waterbury, Avery Point, UConn Health, School of Law—are not affected.

UCONN released the following statement:

"Students will be provided further information about residential life facilities. Essential employees report to work as usual. Employees on the Storrs campus should consult with their manager for further guidance."

The cause of the power outage isn’t yet known, but it is a partial outage on two underground electrical circuits, including the one that caused issues Monday, according to a university statement.

This outage affects several academic buildings that usually host many afternoon and evening classes. Power could return and then be interrupted at various times during the repairs at these buildings and others.
