STORRS, CT — A University of Connecticut student is facing two sexual assault charges stemming from accusations by female students of illicit behavior inside a campus housing facility.

John Thomas, 19, of West Hartford, was charged last month, according to a warrant. Both sexual assault charges are in the fourth degree. He has also been charged with second-degree unlawful restraint. He is due in Rockville Superior Court on Nov. 17, records show.

According to a warrant, the investigation began in February when female student told UConn police that Thomas had been involved in sexual assaults at his residential complex, Busby Suites. According to a warrant, one female student eventually came forward to inform police that, after a night of drinking and partying, Thomas took her back to his room. She claimed she woke up the following morning to discover what appeared to be a sex act performed by Thomas, who had since left the room, according to a warrant.

Another accusation stemmed from last February. A female student told police that Thomas tried to engage in a sex act with a female student, who refused, according to a warrant. The student told police he later sent her a SnapChat message asking that she "finish what we started," then walked to her door and began knocking, according to a warrant. The female student told police she opened the door, fearing the banging would wake her roommate, only to have Thomas take her phone, lead her to a study hall room and perform a sex act, according to a warrant.

An alternation between Thomas and friends ensued at the dorm over the allegations, according to a warrant.
