University of Connecticut Senior Dies

The university announced the death of the student, who is from Wilton, on Tuesday.

A University of Connecticut student from Wilton died Monday morning at Windham Hospital, the university said in a statement.

Connecticut State police said the student was transferred to the hospital from Wilmington. Further details on why he was transported were not immediately available.

The student was identified as Robert Keers, a senior in the School of Business.

β€œIn the short time since we learned of his death, it has become abundantly clear that Robbie had a wide circle of friends at UConn who are profoundly affected by his passing,” the university said in a statement. ”Our deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends, both in the UConn community and his hometown of Wilton.”

Counseling will be available to those students affected by the incident.

Keers is the fourth undergraduate to pass away unexpectedly since August. Two students were killed in a car crash in Columbia earlier this month. In August, a student died in a car accident in East Hartford.
