Woman Caught With Bad Checks, Money After Cashing Attempt: Police

MANSFIELD, CT — A New York City woman spent the weekend locked up on a $250,000 bond after she was caught trying to pass a bad check in Mansfield, state police said.

Lazaya Ann Doman, 28, of Jamaica, NY, was charged with first-degree forgery, criminal simulation and conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny, according to an arrest report. She is to appear in Rockville Superior Court Tuesday, records show.

According to an arrest report, at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, A woman, later identified as Doman, walked int the M&T Bank branch at 1244 Storrs Road and tried to cash a "fraudulent" check. She left the bank and staff members alerted other branches, according to an arrest report.

She was tracked down at an M&T Bank in Vernon after again trying to cash bad checks and Vernon police arrested her and three others. A "significant amount" of cash and fraudulent checks were located in the vehicle, authorities said.
