The incident began near the Meriden Square Mall before the suspects fled and engaged police in a pursuit on I-84 on Monday night.

MERIDEN, CT — Meriden Police have one man in custody and are searching for another in connection to an accident on Monday night in which the suspects fled and engaged police in a pursuit on I-84. The incident began in the area of the Meriden Square Mall when members of the Meriden Crime Suppression Unit attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, according to Sgt. Darrin McKay.

The vehicle failed to stop and police deployed stop sticks which deflated at least one of the vehicle’s tires, according to McKay. The driver, however, continued to ignore commands to stop and entered I-691 West.

McKay said the vehicle continued onto I-84 East where it eventually lost control and crashed in the area of Exit 30. The two male occupants then fled on foot. Connecticut State Police and Southington Police assisted in the search for both suspects. One man was located and arrested but the other suspect got away.
