1 Hospitalized After Fight, Fire In Meriden: Police

Crews extinguished a 2-alarm fire at a multi-family home where police are investigating a fight that broke out early Thursday morning.

MERIDEN, CT — Police are investigating a fight and fire that sent one person to the hospital early Thursday morning in Meriden.

Police responded to the 100 block of Colony Street around 1 a.m. on the report of multiple people fighting in the area. Arriving officers found several people outside of the multi-family home reporting that there was a fire on the second floor, according to police.

“As officers entered the building they located a female with an apparent head wound, possibly caused by a blunt impact instrument and a burned arm,” police wrote in a news release. “Medical staff was summoned to treat any additional possible victims.”

The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries, according to police.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Meriden fire marshal, while police are investigating who was involved in the incident.

Police said there has been a “lack of cooperation and information” provided from people who were involved at the scene. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Hadir at 203-630-6250 or jhadir@meridenct.gov.

Meriden firefighters extinguished the two-alarm fire, according to officials.

“Two residents were rescued by firefighters,” officials wrote in a post on the Meriden Fire Local 1148 union’s Facebook page. “This building contains single room occupancies, challenging firefighters with multiple fortified locked doors.”

The Wallingford, Southington and Berlin fire departments provided mutual assistance while all city companies operated at the scene, according to officials.
