18-Year-Old Shot Multiple Times, Injured in Meriden

MERIDEN, CT — An 18-year-old was shot multiple times Thursday night on Willow Street in Meriden, according to police.

The victim, whose identity was not released, is being treated for non-life threatening injuries at an area hospital.

Police initially responded to the area near 30 Willow Street on a report of shots fired about about 8:30 p.m., but found no one near the site. Officers then received word that a gunshot victim was at the hospital who turned out to be the person shot on Willow.

"A crime scene was established at 30 Willow Street and a search of the immediate area revealed numerous shell casings," Meriden Police Sgt. Darrin McKay wrote in a statement. "A hand gun was also located during the search."

According to McKay, a second person who was in the area at the time of the shooting also was found by police; that person was suffering from a foot injury, but police have not confirmed if that injury was a result of gunfire.

"This is an active investigation and anyone who may have any information regarding this incident is asked to contact Det. Benoit at 203-630-6297," McKay stated.
