2 Seriously Injured In Hit-And-Run Crash: Meriden Police

The driver of a pickup truck crashed into two vehicles and left the scene, according to police.

MERIDEN, CT — Two people were seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash Saturday in Meriden, according to police.

Police received multiple calls around 4:50 p.m. on March 2 on the report of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Old Colony Road and Hanover Avenue.

Callers reported one person was trapped in a vehicle and one involved motorist was trying to flee the scene, according to police.

Police said an investigation found that a black 2010 Dodge RAM 1500 bearing Virginia registration TMD8775 was traveling southbound on Old Colony Road at a high rate of speed.

The Dodge struck two other vehicles, a Volkswagen New Beetle operated by a 32-year-old man and a Honda CR-V operated by a 50-year-old woman, both of which were stopped in traffic at the time of the crash, according to police.

Police said both drivers were taken to area hospitals with injuries that were “serious but not believed to be life-threatening.”

The driver of the Dodge continued to drive a short distance southbound before the vehicle broke down due to heavy front end damage, according to police.

Police said the driver then left the scene as a passenger in another similar truck.
