Alleged Bomb-Making Bank Robber Arrested by Meriden Police
The suspect is accused of robbing two banks in the city this summer.

MERIDEN, CT — Thirty-year-old Meriden resident Pyong Kim was arrested by police this week in connection with two bank robberies in the city in July of this year.
Kim is accused of robbing the TD Bank on East Main Street on the 14th, and the Seasons Federal Credit Union, also on East Main Street, on the 21st, reports the Meriden Record-Journal. In the first robbery, Kim allegedly threatened tellers with a handgun; in the second he left what appeared to be a bomb on the counter.
The device did not detonate, police said, because he lacked components to actually make it explode. However, Kim was charged with robbery, illegal bomb-making, larceny and other violations. He is being held in lieu of a $400,000 bond.
