Arts show Sept. 13 Masonic Temple
To raise money to fund the Masonic History Museum, the temple will host its second annual fine arts show Sept. 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m

The Record Journal reported that the white stone Masonic temple on East Main Street houses relics spanning more than 100 years of Freemason history. Curator Paul Magnotta said the art show is the only fundraiser put on for the museum and it is free for the public to attend.
Last year, Magnotta said, more than 100 visitors attended the show, which featured 34 artists. He said the art “blew me away, I didn’t expect to see anything like what came in.” Former Mayor Mike Rohde attended the art show last year. “It was very interesting,” Rohde said. “They had quite a different collection.” Before that he had never visited the temple. “It is one of those hidden little treasures of Meriden,” Rohde said. “It’s well worth going, it’s interesting and it’s got a lot of history there.” The museum is free and open to the public Monday nights from 7-10 p.m.
