Big Changes in the Christmas Weekend Weather Forecast for Meriden

We’ve dealt with subzero wind chill readings, several inches of snow and just bitterly cold temps recently. And for Christmas, Santa Claus will deliver us all some milder temps and better weather for the upcoming holiday weekend.

Don’t get too excited, last Christmas Connecticut saw temps in the low to mid 60s and this year we’re only expected to see high temps into the low to mid 40s, but we’ll take it after several days of staying below the freezing mark.

For the tens of thousands of Connecticut residents who are expected to travel this weekend, the weather forecast looks ok. We could see some snow and rain on Christmas Eve but it doesn’t look like anything that will cause any major concerns.

In a blog post, NBC Connecticut Ryan Hanrahan writes that most of Connecticut won’t see a white Christmas but he said one computer model does say there may be a possibility for some light snow in Litchfield County, but it’s unlikely to spread across all of the state.

Updated forecast for your area via the National Weather Service:

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, high near 40.

Thursday: Morning clouds and a chance of a rain shower and then turning sunny with a high near 44 on the coast and 40 inland.

Friday: Sunshine and low 40s.

Christmas Eve: A chance of rain and snow at the coast in the morning and then a change to plain rain after 10 a.m. Inland a change to plain rain at 11 a.m. and in Hartford and Tolland counties it looks like some rain after 12 p.m. Saturday.

Christmas Day: Sunshine, temps in the mid 40s on the coast to near 40 inland.
