Body Found Inside of a Car in Meriden Identified as Missing Branford Man: Police

The Medical Examiner's office has confirmed the identity of the person found inside the vehicle in Meriden Friday.

Meriden, CT — The State Medical Examiner has identified the person found deceased in Meriden on Friday as Jason Czech, 39, who at the time had been reported missing, according to Branford police.

The car belonging to then missing Branford man, Jason Czech, 39, of 240 Harbor Street, was found on a Meriden street Friday, July 8, and a body was found inside of the vehicle, the Meriden Record-Journal previously reported.

Czech’s car was found near 71 Mattabasset Drive Friday.

Czech had been missing since Friday, July 1 when family members believed he was headed to a Phish concert in Saratoga, New York. Czech was officially reported missing on the Fourth of July.

The Meriden-Record Journal reports that Czech's cell phone transmitted from a cell tower in the Meriden/Wallingford area on Monday, July 3. Czech worked in the IT department at Bristol Myers-Squibb in Wallingford.

Czech's sister, Amy, had told the Record Journal that her brother went to work Friday July 1, then to a bar in Hartford until 8 p.m. Friday, and he texted a friend that he ended up not going to the Phish show, and that he planned to remain in Connecticut.

His girlfriend received a text at 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 1 from him. No one had heard from him since Friday, July 1.

Czech also has a secondary address of 9 Country Way, Madison.
