Christopher Boyd, 49, of Meriden: Dedicated Life to Boy Scouts

Boyd became an Eagle Sout and continued to serve as an adult leader. He died after a battle with brain cancer.

Christopher Boyd, 49, of Meriden, loving husband of Heidi (Olschefski) Boyd passed away on September 14, 2015 after a valiant struggle with brain cancer.

Born March 21, 1966 in Boston, MA, he spent his early childhood in CT then moved to RI. His mother and father, Rachel Boyd and the late Jim Boyd, relocated back to CT where Chris graduated from Maloney High School. He spent 40 plus years in the Boy Scouts of America, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop #28, then was an adult leader; influencing the lives of many young men and leaders who graciously reached out to his family during his illness. For the last 25 years he was employed by United HealthCare and continued there until his illness. His wife would like to thank the UHC Family for their support throughout his illness. Chris also served 10 years in the U.S. Naval Reserves.

Besides his wife Heidi and his mother Rachel, he is survived by his sons, Chris and Denver Boyd, both of Meriden; his parents-in-laws, Al and RoseM. Olschefski; his sister-in-law, Amy O’Donnell; his brothers-in-law, Karl Olschefski and Terry McBrien of Philadelphia; and his faithful companion, Bailey.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Friday, September 18, 2015, from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be private. Chris did not like to dress in a suit and tie for work; he preferred dockers and polos (Which he unofficially started at his work) so please dress casually when visiting his family. And remember the BSA saying of, “Do a Good Turn Daily”. Besides taking care of his boys, Chris requested Heidi make donations in his memory to various organizations that he chose. www.wallingfordfh.com
