Daffodil Festival Traffic Restrictions Announced

Police are advising motorists of several traffic restrictions that will be in effect during the Daffodil Festival this weekend in Meriden.

MERIDEN, CT — With the annual Daffodil Festival taking place this weekend at Hubbard Park in Meriden, police are advising motorists and residents of several parking restrictions.

“These restrictions will facilitate the safe and efficient flow of traffic in select locations along the main access roads leading into Hubbard Park,” police wrote in a press release. “These main access roads will be posted ‘No Parking’ and will include portions of West Main Street and Reservoir Avenue. In addition to this, some of the side streets off the main access roads will be posted ‘No Parking.’” Read more from the Meriden Police Department below:

These roads include: the west side of Smithfield Avenue, the east side of Spruce Street, Barberry Lane, Eaton Avenue, Parkview Avenue and Graveline Avenue. Additionally, Smithfield Avenue will be posted one-way for southbound vehicles; all vehicular traffic will be directed north toward southbound vehicles. The west side of Peacock Drive will also be posted “No Parking.” Vehicles found in violation of the parking restrictions will be ticketed and towed. All parking restrictions will cease on Sunday, April 29 at 6 p.m.

There will be no parking inside Hubbard Park for the general public during the 2018 Annual Daffodil Festival. The public will be allowed to park at the following locations: 1) Platt High School, 2) Westfield Shopping Town parking garage. All Shuttle Buses will pick up and drop off citizens at the above locations. Daffodil Volunteers will staff the school parking lots. Shuttle Bus Service to and from Hubbard Park will begin on Saturday, April 28 and extend through Sunday, April 29. The hours of operation are as follow: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 28 and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 29.

Handicapped parking will be located at Westfield Shopping Town. A Shuttle Bus Service will be provided to and from Hubbard Park. Nursing Homes with multi-passenger buses will be allowed in the park via Reservoir Avenue. A chairlift van will be available to accommodate the wheelchair bound.

We would also like to advise the public that the only animals allowed in the park during the 2018 Annual Daffodil Festival are service animals. No bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades or silly string are allowed in the park. Smoking is also not allowed in any city park per Meriden City Ordinance 7-148/151-2.
