Driver Killed In Crash In Meriden: Police
A woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Meriden, according to police.
MERIDEN, CT — A woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Meriden, according to police.
The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. on March 12 when two white Acuras were traveling west on Main Street in South Meriden, according to Sgt. Stanley Zajac.
Zajac said one of the Acuras appeared to be attempting a left turn into a driveway in the 100 block of Main Street when the second Acura came up behind the first and struck the turning vehicle at the driver’s door.

The driver of the first vehicle was identified as Denisse Acosta, 53, of Meriden, according to Zajac. She was trapped in her vehicle and extricated by the Meriden Fire Department, Zajac said.
Acosta was taken to the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain where she later died, according to Zajac.

The driver of the second vehicle wasn’t injured and refused medical treatment at the scene, Zajac said.
The crash is being investigated by the Meriden Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit. Any witnesses, or anyone with video surveillance, are asked to call the Meriden Police Department at 203-630-6201.
