DUI Checkpoints, Roving Patrols Announced In Meriden
State Police announce several DUI checkpoints and roving patrols that will take place over the long Memorial Day weekend.

MERIDEN, CT — State Police announce DUI checkpoints and roving patrols that will take place in the Meriden and North Haven areas over Memorial Day weekend. Troop I-Bethany will conduct a spot-check on I-91 in the Exit 16 area in Meriden on May 26 between the hours of 6 p.m. and 2 a.m., state police announced in a press release.
Also, beginning Friday, May 26, until Tuesday, May 30, during the evening hours, state troopers will conduct roving DUI patrols on Route 15 in the North Haven area, I-91 in the North Haven area, I-691 in Meriden and on Route 8 in the Shelton area. “This spot-check and roving DUI patrols during the Memorial Day Weekend are part of a continuing effort by State Police personnel to identify motorists who are operating vehicles under the influence of liquor and/or drugs,” police said in a press release. “The roving DUI patrols will be in operation for several hours. State Troopers will be stopping vehicles for moving violations as well as equipment violations in order to locate operators driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

“Lieutenant David DelVecchia, the Commanding Officer at Troop I, in Bethany, reminds motorists that Connecticut State Troopers are extremely vigilant in their DUI enforcement efforts and that the State Police will have extra State Troopers on duty to concentrate on DUI enforcement.”
