Equipment Issue, Not Hackers, Knocked Out Internet Access For Police Cruisers: Meriden PD

Meriden Police say an internal equipment problem at the department caused Internet outages for in-car computers, not hackers.

MERIDEN, CT — An internal equipment issue caused Internet outages for in-car computers on Friday night but Meriden Police stress that their computers were not “hacked.” The equipment issues at the police department also had an effect on the Meriden P2C website, according to Sgt. Darrien McKay.

“At this time our IT personnel are working to correct the issue,” McKay said in an email on Monday morning.

He also clarified that the issue is “simply an equipment issue and that the problem is in no way a result of our computers being ‘hacked.’”
