Event: Public Meeting on USPS Wallingford Plant Closing

The US Postal Service is holding a public meeting at Villa Capri in Wallingford at 5:30 p.m. to discuss shuttering the Wallingford mail processing and distribution center.

The center is one of two Conn. mail centers and about 250 in the nation on the list for closure by USPS in an attempt to save about $3 billion and pull the service out of bankruptcy, according to the Huffington Post and AP.

Closures nationwide would delivery in the continental U.S. so that letters could not arrive the next day, but take a minimum of 2-3 days.

The public is invited and both Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Rep. Chris Murphy are slated to be there.
