Trio brings opera to Wallingford Symphony

A trio of vocalists will bring opera to the Wallingford Symphony. Kerry Holahan,  Lilla Heinrich Szasz  and Chai-lun Yueh will be performing with the Wallingford Symphony Orchestra at its next performance on Saturday, February 25th. Holahan is a soprano soloist, who has studied in Bejing, and is currently pursuing a masters in music at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. She focuses on the interpretation of early Baroque repertoire and sings with musical groups in the Washington DC area. Szasz is a soprano who has performed across the United States and Europe. The New York Times wrote of her "appealing sound, agile colorature and oversizewit." Holahan is returning for an encore performance with the Wallingford Symphony. Yueh is a dramatic baritone and the only Chinese-born American Grammy award nominee. Yueh graduated with highest honors from the Central Conservatory of Music in Bejing and is currently on the faculty at Trinity College, Wesleyan University and the Hartford Conservatory.

 The Wallingford Symphony Orchestra will perform under the direction of Philip Ventre, the WSO musical director and founder. The symphony orchestra is comprised of an ensemble of forty professional musicians, who will be performing A Night at the Opera  at 8 PM of February 25, in the Paul Mellon Arts Center on the Choate Rosemary campus. Selections will include Georges Bizet's Toreador's Song from Carmen, Richard Wagner's Evening Star from Tannhauser, and a Gioacchino Rossini's piece from The Barber of Seville.  The concert will be followed by a reception.

The symphony performs throughout the year. Their February concert will be followed with a 2 PM concert on April 29 with music by Beethoven, Dukas and Mussorgsky from Disney's Fantasia and music from feature movies, E.T. and Star Wars!
