MERIDEN, CT – The Cove Center for Grieving Children, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping grieving children and teens throughout Connecticut who have experienced the death of a loved one, is seeking Volunteer Facilitators for the Cove Family Program.

The Cove Family Program has 7 sites located in Meriden, West Hartford, East Hartford, New Haven, Guilford, Easton - serving Newtown/Fairfield County, and Stonington CT. The 20-week program meets twice a month from September - June.

Trained facilitators will lead peer-support groups for children ages 4-17 years of age through a program of activities geared to fostering self-expression and assist them with coping skills as they are guided through their grief in a safe and nurturing environment. Facilitators volunteer under the guidance of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is the Site Director.

A thorough criminal and DCF background check and commitment of one year to the program is required to participate. The 3-day training will take place at The Cove Coordinating Office in Meriden.
