Man Faces Weapons Charges In Meriden

A man who police say is tied to recent gun violence has been charged.

MERIDEN, CT — A man is facing weapons charges after he brandished a gun in the presence of officers, according to police. Wilfredo Ocasio-Rosado, 30, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, weapons in a motor vehicle, improper use of registration, and operating a motor vehicle under suspension.

Police were conducting an investigation in the area of 11 Crown St. on Thursday when they spotted Ocasio-Rosado standing in the parking lot of an apartment complex. Police said in a statement that they had credible information that he was involved in recent gun violence.

Ocasio-Rosado approached an unmarked police vehicle and brandished a gun, then fled in a car, according to police.

Police found Ocasio-Rosado sitting in a car Friday in the area of 11 Crown St. Police apprehended him and found a .380 caliber gun on him. Police also seized a 16 gauge shotgun.

Ocasio-Rosado was charged and held on a $500,000 bond. He is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm and/or ammunition, according to police.
