Man Seriously Wounded In Meriden Bar Shooting: Police

The incident occurred early Saturday morning.

MERIDEN, CT — A 29-year-old man was shot once in the neck in an early morning shooting Saturday at 105 Restaurant and Lounge on Colony Street in Meriden and authorities are looking for the assailant, according to police.

The victim was initially treated in MidState Medical Center following the 1:45 a.m. shooting, but he was then transported by LifeStar to an area trauma center. His identity has not been released, but his condition was listed as serious but not life-threatening, said Meriden Police Sgt. Darrin McKay in a statement.

The incident began when Meriden police officers, who were parked near the bar, were approached by several people who said there had been a shooting in the establishment.

"Officers immediately responded and quickly learned that the alleged victim had already been transported to the MidState Medical Center here in Meriden by an unknown person or persons," stated McKay.

"Officers were sent to MidState where they did confirm that a 29-year-old male had been shot one time in the neck. His injuries were very serious and he was transported via LifeStar to an area trauma center. As of this release his injuries are listed as serious but non-life threatening."

Meriden police are still in the process of gathering evidence, processing the crime scene and looking for any witnesses, added McKay.

"The shooting was confirmed to have taken place inside of the bar/restaurant and at this time the investigation is on-going. At this time it does not appear that there were any other injuries to any other patrons who had been inside of the bar at the time of the shooting."
